- The original unveiling of the cover depicted Trellis' scar on the wrong side of his face. After being alerted by fans, Kazu acknowledged and fixed the error.
- Thus far, Escape From Lucien is the second longest book in the series at 215 pages, right after The Stonekeeper's Curse at 224 pages.
- In 2012, Kazu Kibuishi experienced an intense bout with bacterial meningitis, in which he spent two weeks at the hospital and three weeks recome, dealing with memory loss and slowly re-adjusting back into his career. As a result, the release of Escape From Lucien was delayed.
