Overview
Navin and his classmates journey to Lucien, a city ravaged by war and plagued by mysterious creatures, where they search for a beacon essential to their fight against the Elf King. Meanwhile, Emily heads back into the Void with Max, one of the Elf King's loyal followers, where she learns his darkest secrets. The stakes, for both Emily and Navin, are higher than ever.
Plot
Logi, a servant of the Royal House of Elves, tries to convince Max to seek his counsel. This is much to Max's annoyance, and he accuses Logi of being a traitor

- Thus far, Escape From Lucien is the second longest book in the series at 215 pages, right after The Stonekeeper's Curse at 224 pages.
- In 2012, Kazu Kibuishi experienced an intense bout with bacterial meningitis, in which he spent two weeks at the hospital and three weeks recome, dealing with memory loss and slowly re-adjusting back into his career. As a result, the release of Escape From Lucien was delayed.
